Our local representative will visit you again in the evening to ensure that you are doing perfectly fine.
Overnight at hotel in Leh.

DAY 2: Leh Excursion

Your second day in Ladakh will also be spent in Leh to continue with the acclimatization process. However, on this day you’ll be taking a tour of the beautiful city and its surrounding areas. Located around 35 Km away from Leh town, the point of confluence of the mighty Indus and Zanskar Rivers is your first stop for the day. The different shades of green of the two rivers’ water are distinctly visible with bare eyes, making it a place worth visiting during your stay in Leh.

You can either choose to drive down to the exact point of confluence, maybe enjoy the view with a cup of steaming hot tea, or you could also get a bird’s eye view of the confluence from a vantage point. Depending on which time of the year you visit, you’ll notice how different both rivers look individually, leading up to their meeting point.

A very popular tourist attraction in Leh, Magnetic Hill is technically a small stretch of road on the Leh-Kargil Highway. It is popularly known to be a spot where gravitational forces can be defied, due to a socalled magnetic pull from the surrounding mountains. Although this
spot has maintained its popularity among tourists, there is not much truth to what happens here. The landscape of the surrounding mountains and slopes is such that, to our eyes, it looks like the road is sloping uphill, but in reality the road slopes downhill making cars roll down even on neutral gear. But having said that, it’s a great spot to stop by for a while and get a good look at the stunning landscape.

DAY 3: LEH SIGHTSEEING

Explore Shay Palace, Hemis Monastery, Thiksey Monastery and Leh Market. Relax and unwind yourself at one of the best resorts of Leh. Visit Leh Market which is a colorful, bustling market in the city center and the perfect place to spend a leisurely evening strolling through its narrow alleys. The market is home to shops selling all kinds of local products from fresh produce to souvenirs and handicraft items.

Pick up Tibetan prayer flags and wheels or silver jewelry, taste local dry fruits like apricots, figs, and walnuts, and end the day with a meal at one of the many cafes lining the street.

DAY 4: Leh/NubraValley (148 Kms/6 hrs)

Post breakfast we drive to Nubra Valley. The road journey from Leh to Nubra Valley passes over Khardung La (The Highest Motorable Road In The World) at 5,602 Mtrs / 18,390 Ft, around 39 km from Leh. From the pass, one can see all the way south over the Indus valley to seemingly endless peaks and ridges of the Zanskar range, and north to the giants of the Saser massif. Nubra Valley is popularly known as Ldumra or the valley of flowers. It is situated in the north of Ladakh between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges of the Himalayas. The average altitude of the valley is 10,000 Ft. above sea level.

Upon arrival in Nubra we check in at our Camp in Hunder relax and get refreshed. In the evening we drive to Hunder where you have opportunity to ride on a bacterian camel (double humped) amidst the sand dunes of this high-altitude desert with snowcapped mountains on the horizon. Between Hunder and Diskit you come across sand dunes besides the road. It is indeed a strange sight since immediately on the leG of the road are Rocky Mountains that characterize the Ladakhi landscape and in the distance, can be seen snow-capped mountains. Dinner and overnight at the Camp.

DAY 5: Nubra to Turtuk and back (80 Kms one way/7-8 hrs.)

After breakfast drive towards Turtuk border village that sits on the crossroad of Himalayan and Karakoram ranges overlooking the Shyok river is home to the people of Balti tribe with its unique culture and tradition. Baltis are also known for their sumptuous cuisine. The village was used to be under Pakistani occupation until 1971 when India won it back in a fierce war fought against the Pakistani army. Atop the village you also get a view of Pakistani side of the border.

Almost every family is divided and some of the relatives now reside on the other side of the border. You would get some of your best shots here in Turutk. The place is also known for quality apricots and sword dance which they perform on important occasions and marriages. As someone rightly said that “only smiles are sweeter than apricot in Turtuk”. Drive back to Nubra and overnight in Hotel/camp.

DAY 6 : Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake via Shayok Valley (150 Kms/5-6hours)

After an early breakfast leave for Pangong Lake via Shayok Valley, probably one of the scenic landscapes as you drive across river shayok for most part of your journey. Reach Pangong Lake, situated at 14,000 feet (4,267 m). The lake is bisected by the international border between India and China. The lake became a rage with Indian tourists aGer Amir shot the climax of his film 3 idiot and Ladakh became a destination overnight. On a sunny day the reflection of the sky makes the color of lake look turquoise blue in contrast with the earthy mountains to make pictures look unreal and surreal. Enjoy the landscape in the back drop of the Lake. One rarely feels so close to nature and environment and the scenery is unforgettable. Evening at leisure and overnight stay at the camp near lake.

DAY 7 : Pangong to Leh (155Kms/5-6 hrs)

Explore the lake area early in the morning as you would get some good images. AGer breakfast drive back to Leh via Changla, Karoo before finally arriving the town. Drop back at the hotel. Overnight at hotel in Leh.
