RANN OF KUTCH

The name “Rann” comes from the Hindi word ran meaning “desert”. The Hindi word is derived from Sanskrit word Irina attested in the Rig-Veda and Mahabharata. Rann Utsav is a cultural extravaganza organized at different locations every year within Kutch in Gujarat. White expanse of serene sand under the full bloom of the moon – believe us, it gets more romantic than words.
The ancient city of Dholavira, the southern centre of the Harappan Civilization, is sited on the arid island of Khadir in the State of Gujarat. a Harappan city, is one of the very few well preserved urban settlements in South Asia dating from the 3rd to mid-2nd millennium BCE. Being the 6th largest of more than 1,000 Harappan sites discovered so far, and occupied for over 1,500 years, Dholavira not only witnesses the entire trajectory of the rise and fall of this early civilization of humankind, but also demonstrates its multifaceted achievements in terms of urban planning, construction techniques, water management, social governance and development, art,
manufacturing, trading, and belief system.

DAY 1: Arrival in Rajkot- By air

Your exciting journey begins as you depart from Delhi. You will be met by your Tour Manager and transferred to Rajkot.

Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and take some time to relax.

Day 2: Rajkot to Dholavira

After breakfast, check out from your hotel and begin your scenic journey to Dholavira, known for its stunning “Road to Heaven.” As you travel through the vast desert landscape, you’ll be captivated by the sweeping views of salt marshes and endless horizons.

Surrounded by the tranquil beauty of the Kutch desert, this is your perfect base to unwind and soak in the serenity of this unique destination.

Day 3: Dholavira- sightseeing

After a hearty breakfast, set out to explore the fascinating Museum and Excavation Site at Dholavira. Step back in time as you witness the remnants of one of the oldest civilizations, marveling at ancient artifacts and structures that offer a glimpse into the past. The museum brings history to life with its impressive collection, while the excavation site allows you to walk amidst the ruins of this remarkable Harappan city, immersing yourself in the rich heritage and timeless stories of Dholavira.

As night falls, prepare for a magical experience—witness the full moon rising over the vast expanse of the desert at Dholavira. With the stillness of the landscape and the endless sky above, the moonlight casts an ethereal glow over the surroundings, transforming the desert into a serene, otherworldly wonder.

Day 4: Dholavira - Dhordho

After breakfast today we will drive to Dhordho for Rann Utsav.

Dhordo village has been situated as a last village in the area. Dhordo, has had approx 70 houses, having 450 odd population of communities of Mutva , Sheikh , and Harijan involved in doing the jobs of various handicrafts popularly well known as ‘Banni Handicrafts’ which have become famous world across. A very intricate and expensive embroideries and mud work are done here. Their craftsmanship and artistic works have such excellence that craftsmen/artists have been honoured by national awards.

Transfer to White Rann witness the Grandeur of Sunset.

Mode of transfer will be our Coach- People who would like to take a camel cart aref ree to do so.

Return Transfer to Tent City Dhordo Dinner at respective Dining area Enjoy the culture of Kutch along with entertaining activities.

Day 5: Dhordho – Mandvi Via Bhuj

The historic city of Bhuj derives its name from the Bhujiyo Dungar, a hill, overlooking the present day Bhuj town. Bhuj is a typical example of a desert town located between two geographical features.

Bhujiyo Dungar on the east & Hamirsar Lake on the west. Bhuj, the major town of Kutch, is an old city established in 1510. With its surrounding wall, the atmospheric bazaar area, crenellated gateways, old palaces and striking temples the town still retains a medieval character. From here we will visit Prag Mahal which was constructed by Rao Pragmalji II who appointed a famous architect, Colonel Henry Saint Wilkins to design Prag Mahal. Aaina Mahal Palace was built by Rao Lakhpatji in 1750 AD. Aaina Mahal is a part of a large palace complex. It is a two Storey building with Darbar Hall, hall of mirrors, and suites for royal family.

We will proceed to Mandvi which is a beach location after Lunch and Sighseeing.

Day 6: Mandvi- Vijay Vilas Palace

Enjoy a lesisurly breakfast and spend the morning relaxing by the shore or indulging in the tranquil surroundings.

Later visit the The Vijay Vilas Palace is an impressive 450-acre palace estate at Mandvi where the Maharaos of Kutch spent summer in the 1940s. The imposing palace is built in an Indo-European style with exquisite stonework.

In the evening, prepare for a memorable Gala dinner, where you can savor exquisite cuisine in a truly spectacular setting.

Day 7: Departure from Rajkot by Air

Check out for the hotel.

Proceed to Rajkot for your flight back home. Carrying with you cherished memories of a beautiful trip to last a lifetime.
