Day 3: PUERTO WILLIAMS TO KING GEORGE CHARTER FLIGHT - FLY IN CRUISE & SKIP THE DRAKE
Embarking on a voyage through the legendary Drake Passage is a rare and captivating experience that only a select few are fortunate enough to undertake. The rugged landscapes of the southern tip of the Americas provide a dramatic backdrop, but it’s the gradual disappearance of the distant cliffs marking the ‘End of the World’ that truly evokes a sense of awe, mystery, and enchantment. As you set sail from Cape Horn, the feeling of venturing towards the unknown, towards Antarctica’s icy realm, is nothing short of extraordinary.
Day 4: ANTARCTIC SOUND
The Antarctic Sound, situated at the northern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula, welcomes travelers with its awe-inspiring landscapes of towering icebergs calved from the Larsen Ice Shelf. Named after the pioneering vessel that navigated its waters in 1902, this region presents a sensory spectacle of nature’s grandeur. Here, amid the monochrome vistas, one encounters colonies of Gentoo penguins and graceful cape petrels, thriving amidst the ice. Capturing the essence of this extraordinary realm demands honed photography skills to immortalize its raw beauty. As you prepare for this once-in-a-lifetime expedition, consider refining your photographic techniques to ensure your images reflect the magnificence of Antarctica.
Day 5, 6 & 7 : ANTARCTIC PENINSULA
The Antarctic Peninsula unravels upwards towards South America, reaching out a beckoning finger to the adventurous, who dare to explore this untamed realm. Stretching up from the heart of the world’s southernmost continent, the Antarctic Peninsula lies a mere 620 mile from Tierra del Fuego and, for many, offers a spectacular first taste of the snow-blanketed landscapes and colossal ice sculptures, which make up Earth’s least-explored continent. Unseen by humans until 1820 – a blink of an eye ago in relative terms – this is an adventure sure to make your hairs stand on end, as you experience the thrill of the truly unknown and extraordinary. The vast peninsula is sprinkled with research bases, which are at the frontline of human scientific endeavour, pushing to study and understand this unique landscape, its exceptional wildlife, and the impact that humans are having on this pristine continent. Witness cathedral-sized icebergs up close, and blue-hued glaciers, slowly slipping from imposing locations like Hope Bay. Blanched mountain peaks cover the peninsula, and you’ll find thousands of adorable Adelie penguin pairs thriving undisturbed in this peninsula’s unique setting.
Day 8 : SOUTH SHETLAND ISLANDS
The Antarctic Peninsula is one of the most accessible parts of mainland Antarctica, located just 480 miles from South America across the Drake Passage. Nearby, the South Shetland Islands— governed by the Antarctic Treaty—host international research stations and abundant wildlife, including elephant seals and colonies of Gentoo, Chinstrap, and Adélie penguins. From the dramatic peaks of Mount Foster to the volcanic caldera of Deception Island, where visitors can explore otherworldly landscapes and warm geothermal waters, the region offers unforgettable experiences. Rich in history, Elephant Island is famed as the site where Ernest Shackleton and his crew survived the winter of 1916. For those apprehensive about crossing the Drake Passage, rest assured that even amid turbulent seas, you’ll find solace in the company of soaring albatrosses and perhaps even a protective pod of humpback whales or hourglass dolphins. The convergence of warm and cool ocean currents creates an environment teeming with spectacular marine life.
Day 9: Drake Passage
Navigating the legendary Drake Passage stands as a rare and remarkable experience, granted to only a fortunate few. The rugged landscape at the southern tip of the Americas already exudes a sense of untamed wilderness. However, witnessing the distant cliffs of the renowned ‘End of the World’ gradually recede into the horizon adds an element of grandeur, mystery, and enchantment to the journey. Embark on this expedition, setting course from Cape Horn, and venture into the frigid depths of Antarctica.
Day 10: DRAKE PASSAGE, ARRIVAL IN PUERTO WILLIAMS
Located on Navarino Island along the Beagle Channel, Puerto Williams claims the title of the world’s southernmost city, though this is debated by Argentina’s Ushuaia across the water. Home to about 2,500 residents, it is surrounded by dramatic, snow-dusted mountains and the striking Dientes de Navarino range. Founded in 1953 as a Chilean naval base, the town now serves as a gateway for scientific missions and Antarctic travel. Quiet and rustic, Puerto Williams offers a peaceful, village-like atmosphere at the very edge of the world. Explore this quaint little town along with other members of the group.

Day 13: SANTIAGO- DAY TRIP TO VALPARAISO
Today lets explore Valparaíso and Viña del Mar, . The historic city of Valparaíso is Chile’s oldest port. It is also home to the country’s Senate and Chamber of Deputies, which moved here from the capital in 1989, when Chilean democratic governance was re-established. The city’s many hills are covered with a multi coloured panorama of painted houses crowding every nook and cranny, ensuring a spectacular backdrop to your visit. During your tour, you will see the historic city centre, whose fine 19th-Century architecture provides good reason for its inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage list. From Valparaíso you will continue along the coast to the beautiful beaches of Viña del Mar, the Garden city, named for its many parks and green spaces. Viña del Mar is a lively city with attractive beaches, modern hotels, high-end restaurants and fashionable bars. The casino, built in 1932 and set amidst beautiful gardens, is a well kept Chilean tradition of elegance. After your visit to Viña del Mar you will return Santiago.
La Sebastiana
La Sebastiana is Pablo Neruda’s house in Valparaíso, now open to the public as a museum. High up on Cerro Florida, it offers a marvellous view of the sea and an interesting insight into the life and work of this eccentric poet and diplomat.
Pablo Neruda bought this place in order “to live and write in peace” and furnished every corner according to his taste and preferences. He sometimes celebrated New Year’s Eve here. Pablo Neruda called La Sebastiana “a house that seems to be floating in the air, but stands firmly on the ground”.
