DAY 1: Pre-departure stay in Buenos Aires

Today you land in Argentina, with hearts full of excitement,as we set sail towards Antarctica, safely guided, warmly hosted and ready to witness nature like never before.
Stay in a hotel Overnight.

Day 2: Buenos Aires to Ushuaia by Charter Flight, followed by Embarkation on board

Embarking on a voyage through the legendary Drake Passage is a rare and captivating experience that only a select few are fortunate enough to undertake. The rugged landscapes of the southern tip of the Americas provide a dramatic backdrop, but it’s the gradual disappearance of the distant cliffs marking the ‘End of the World’ that truly evokes a sense of awe, mystery, and enchantment. As you set sail from Cape Horn, the feeling of venturing towards the unknown, towards Antarctica’s icy realm, is nothing short of extraordinary.

For those apprehensive about crossing the Drake Passage, rest assured that even amid turbulent seas, you’ll find solace in the company of soaring albatrosses and perhaps even a protective pod of humpback whales or hourglass dolphins. The convergence of warm and cool ocean currents creates an environment teeming with spectacular marine life.

Day 3 & 4: Drake Passage

Navigating the legendary Drake Passage stands as a rare and remarkable experience, granted to only a fortunate few. The rugged landscape at the southern tip of the Americas already exudes a sense of untamed wilderness. However, witnessing the distant cliffs of the renowned ‘End of the World’ gradually recede into the horizon adds an element of grandeur, mystery, and enchantment to the journey. Embark on this expedition, setting course from Cape Horn, and venture into the frigid depths of Antarctica.
The voyage across the Drake Passage is a remarkable odyssey steeped in the lore of maritime adventure. As you approach Antarctica, colossal icebergs salute your arrival, heralding your entry into a realm where snow and ice are the dominant features, and creatures like penguins and whales roam freely. Your initial encounter with this uncharted territory will likely occur at the South Shetland Islands. Here, you can trace the footsteps of history’s most illustrious and daring explorers while exploring renowned, snow-covered landmasses such as Elephant and Deception Island. For those embarking on their inaugural journey to this magical continent, it’s advisable to peruse our blog tailored for first-time visitors to Antarctica, ensuring you’re well-prepared for the adventure that awaits.

Day 5: Exploring the South Shetland Islands

The ice-covered Antarctic Peninsula stands out as one of the most easily accessible regions of mainland Antarctica, situated just 480 miles away from South America, across the renowned waters of Drake Passage. Nestled near the northwestern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula and separated by the Bransfield Strait, the South Shetland Islands fall under the jurisdiction of the Antarctic Treaty, which suspends claims to their sovereignty. These islands host research bases maintained by several countries, and with abundant elephant seals and bustling colonies of Gentoo, Chinstrap, and Adelie Penguins, the atmosphere can feel surprisingly lively. King George Island, the largest and most welcoming island, accommodates the majority of the research stations, some of which are inhabited year-round by small, resilient crews. However, despite appearances, these islands offer remarkable adventures in one of the planet’s most remote locales. The towering triple peaks of Mount Foster dominate the archipelago, and as you navigate into the heart of Deception Island’s awe-inspiring collapsed volcano caldera, you’ll feel the exhilaration in your chest. Explore the lunar landscapes within and perhaps even take a dip in the unexpectedly warm, geothermally-heated waters of Pendulum Cove. Elephant Island, steeped in Antarctic expedition lore, holds a prominent place in history as the site where Ernest Shackleton and his crew miraculously endured a harsh Antarctic winter in 1916 after the Endurance became trapped in ice. Uncover more compelling reasons to visit this incredible icy realm and learn why many regard the South Shetland Islands as Antarctica’s crown jewel by delving into our blog.

Day 6, 7 & 8 : Exploring the Antarctic Peninsula

The Antarctic Peninsula unravels upwards towards South America, reaching out a beckoning finger to the adventurous, who dare to explore this untamed realm. Stretching up from the heart of the world’s southernmost continent, the Antarctic Peninsula lies a mere 620 miles from Tierra del Fuego and, for many, offers a spectacular first taste of the snow-blanketed landscapes and colossal ice sculptures, which make up Earth’s least-explored continent. Unseen by humans until 1820—a blink of an eye ago in relative terms—this is an adventure sure to make your hairs stand on end, as you experience the thrill of the truly unknown and extraordinary. The vast peninsula is sprinkled with research bases, which are at the frontline of human scientific endeavour, pushing to study and understand this unique landscape, its exceptional wildlife, and the impact that humans are having on this pristine continent. Witness cathedral-sized icebergs up close, and blue-hued glaciers, slowly slipping from imposing locations like Hope Bay. Blanched mountain peaks cover the peninsula, and you’ll find thousands of adorable Adelie penguin pairs thriving undisturbed in this peninsula’s unique setting.

Day 9: Drake Passage (Christmas Celebration)

Leaving the Antarctic Peninsula by cruise and heading north across the Drake Passage is a profound and often emotional finale to an unforgettable journey. After days spent exploring towering icebergs, penguin colonies, and surreal polar landscapes, passengers begin the two-day voyage back toward South America, sailing through one of the most legendary stretches of ocean on Earth. The Drake Passage, where the Southern Ocean churns between Antarctica and Cape Horn, is known for its dramatic seas but also for its striking beauty.

Day 10 & 11: Drake Passage, Arrival in Ushuaia, Argentina

Sailing across the Drake Passage to Ushuaia is one of the most iconic and adventurous sea journeys on Earth. During the crossing, it’s common to see an incredible array of wildlife: wandering albatrosses soaring overhead, pods of dolphins playing in the ship’s wake, and even breaching whales in the distance. Onboard, travelers can enjoy expert-led lectures about Antarctic history, wildlife, and ecology, as well as relax in lounges, observation decks, or wellness areas while watching the Southern Ocean unfold around them.

27th Dec – Arrival in Ushuaia – Disembarkation – Charter to Buenos Aires
Nestled between the Martial Mountains and the Beagle Channel, this Argentine port town welcomes travelers back to civilization with stunning views, warm local hospitality, and a deep sense of accomplishment. The Drake Passage crossing is a story you’ll carry with you for life.
