KOLKATA (Durga Puja & Sundarbans)

04th October till 09th October 2022

Nothing can compare to Durga Puja celebrations in Kolkata. This part of the country seems illuminated from the sky as the city is bathed in lights. Pujo is a way of life for the locals, and to people from other parts of India Kolkata is intriguingly beautiful.

KareVoyage has combined 2 days Pujo fervor with Sundarbans. Sundarbans is the largest mangrove forest in the world and is home to Royal Bengal Tiger along with 30,000 spotted deer.

Durga Puja pandals in Kolkata are famous for its unique themes, creative excellence and wonderful ideas. During Durga Puja there is a healthy competition among the Puja committees to surprise and attract more visitors by creating something totally unexpected – there are forgotten pages from India’s history, some pandals are creating awareness of burning social issues, some have opted for creating replicas of well-known monuments and buildings.

Sindur Khela is a major event of Dashami. This event is called “Durga Baran”. They apply vermilion to the Goddess’s head and to each other and greet each other with sweets. The ritual of applying sindoor also takes place at home when Bijoya Dashami is celebrated with family members.
